Details

The applicant made a complaint that Unite the Union breached section 30(2) of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 in failing to comply with his request to access accounting records of the union. The applicant submitted two complaints to the Certification Officer on 6 January 2025 and 7 March 2025 respectively.  Following a hearing held by Video Conferencing on 22 May 2025, the Assistant Certification Officer upheld the applicant’s complaints and made an enforcement order, granting the applicant access to the union’s accounting records.

Further to the above decision, the Certification Officer issued a Financial Penalty Order to the Union on 23 July 2025.
