Details

On 3 April 2009 the Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport announced that a local inquiry would be held pursuant to section 10(1) of the Public Libaries & Museums Act 1964 to gather further information to help decide whether Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council’s plans for their library service were consistent with their statutory duty to provide a ‘comprehensive and efficient’ service.

Sue Charteris, was appointed as the independent person to lead the Inquiry, and submitted this report to the Secretary of State in accordance with the Public Libraries (Inquiries Procedure) Rules 1992.
