Andy King

Biography

Andy King joined Companies House in September 2025 as Chief Executive and Registrar for England and Wales.

Before joining Companies House, Andy was Chief Operating Officer at Defence Business Services (DBS) within the Ministry of Defence (MOD). Prior to that he was Operations Delivery Director at the Rural Payments Agency within Defra, overseeing the delivery of customer, grants, livestock, trade, regulatory and other services to rural communities and part of its Executive Team.

Previously, he held positions at the Environment Agency, Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and the Home Office. His experience includes leadership roles in national customer, business operations, regulatory and enforcement settings.

Chief Executive, Registrar of Companies

The Chief Executive and Registrar for England and Wales is responsible for:

  • incorporating and registering companies
  • taking action if a company fails to file the documents required under the Companies Act 2006, which may involve dissolving companies or penalising directors
  • making company data available to the public
  • the day to day running of Companies House
