The Rt Hon Andrew Lansley CBE

Biography

Andrew Lansley CBE was appointed Leader of the House of Commons in September 2012. He was elected Conservative MP for South Cambridgeshire on 1 May 1997.

Education

Andrew was educated at Brentwood School, Essex, and the University of Exeter, where he was President of the Guild for Students.

Political career

He served as Shadow Health Secretary from 2003 until the 2010 election. He then served as Secretary of State for Health until September 2012.

Career outside politics

Andrew began his career as a civil servant working at the Department of Trade and Industry. He was awarded a CBE for running the Conservative campaign for the 1992 general election.

Personal life

Andrew is married with 2 children. He also has 3 children from his first marriage.
