Written requests

Information not published under this scheme, or not available elsewhere on website, can be requested by e-mailing:

Requests are dealt with in accordance with the timescales of the FOI Act or other relevant legislation (eg the General Data Protection Act 2018, Student Finance Regulations).

Information not made available

There will be occasions when we will not be able to supply all the information requested. These will only be in respect of information specifically exempted under the Freedom of Information Act, in particular when we are constrained by considerations of:

  • national security
  • legal and contractual obligations
  • our duty to keep sensitive information about individuals confidential

We will always make clear on such occasions why information is withheld. Members of the public have the right to appeal to the Information Commissioner against such a decision. Anything not published under the scheme can be requested under the Freedom of Information Act by e-mailing:

Normally material will be made available electronically. Paper copies will be made available on request.

In general, SLC does not charge for information provision, but retains the right to charge for written requests in line with the FOI regulations. Where a request for information would be excessively costly to deliver, SLC will endeavour to liaise with the requesting body to determine a less costly solution. This decision will be reviewed on the same timeframe as the review of the publication scheme.

We welcome suggestions as to how our scheme might be improved. Any questions or comments about this scheme should be sent in writing to the Publication Scheme Co-ordinator:
