Webinars on changes to veterinary medicines supply into Northern Ireland from 1 January 2026
VMD has published webinars to help veterinary professionals, wholesalers and retailers prepare for changes to the supply of veterinary medicines into Northern Ireland.
Veterinary professionals, wholesalers, retailers and animal owners will benefit from the publication of Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) webinars that explain the changes coming into effect when the current grace period ends on 31 December 2025.
The VMD, working alongside the Department of Environment Farming and Rural Affairs (DAERA) has published two webinars to highlight the imminent changes to the supply of veterinary medicine into Northern Ireland.
Webinar for Wholesalers and Retailers
The first webinar is aimed at wholesalers and retailers supplying veterinary medicines to Northern Ireland. It provides details on changes to supply and includes examples of what the changes mean for suppliers and animal owners based in Northern Ireland.
Webinar for Veterinary Surgeons
The second webinar is aimed at veterinary surgeons based in Northern Ireland. It provides details of the Veterinary Medicines Internal Market Scheme (VMIMS), the Veterinary Medicines Health Situation Scheme (VMHSS) and changes to the prescribing cascade.
Both webinars include information from DAERA‘s authorised veterinary medicines inspection branch on the re-introduction of inspections.
