Wallace Collection Board Appointments
Kate Cheetham, Elizabeth Kennedy, Amelia Pan and Lord Chris Smith have been appointed to the Wallace Collection Board by the previous Prime Minister.
Kate Cheetham
Appointed from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2031
Kate is Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary of Lloyds Banking Group plc and has been a member of the Group Executive Committee since 2017. She advises the Board and senior executives on legal and governance matters and leads the Group’s legal and corporate governance function.
Kate joined Lloyds Banking Group in 2005 and held a number of senior roles before her current appointment. Prior to Lloyds, she was a corporate lawyer specialising in mergers and acquisitions and previously ran a commercial art gallery in London.
In April 2025, Kate was appointed Forestry Commissioner and Director of Forestry England. She has also served as a Non-Executive director of Scottish Widows Ltd and as a Trustee of the Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales.
Elizabeth Kennedy
Appointed from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2030
Elizabeth Kennedy is Head of Legal at Havas UK, where she leads the legal, compliance and enterprise risk functions. She is also a Trustee of the National Galleries of Scotland and Company Secretary and Non-Executive Director of The Fine Art Society.
Elizabeth held senior international legal roles at Technicolor, advising businesses across the film, television and advertising sectors. Her work has focused on the intersection of law, media, technology and the creative industries.
She holds an LLB from the University of Glasgow and an LLM by Research from the University of Edinburgh.
Amelia Pan
Appointed from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2030
Amelia Pan is a Managing Director in Strategic Advisory at PJT Partners, where she advises company boards and senior executives on shareholder governance, investor engagement and strategic communications.
Before joining PJT Partners, Amelia was a Partner at Brunswick Group in London, where she founded the firm’s global ESG advisory practice. She previously held senior roles at Cazenove and J.P. Morgan in New York and London, advising companies on engagement with institutional investors.
Alongside her professional career, Amelia has held a number of roles in the non-profit sector, including with Médecins Sans Frontières, the Innocence Project and Restless Development, where she served as a Trustee and chaired its External Engagement Committee.
Lord Chris Smith
Appointed from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2031
Lord Chris Smith was elected Chancellor of the University of Cambridge in July 2025, having previously served as Master of Pembroke College, Cambridge, from 2015 to 2025. He is also Chair of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, a Non-Executive Director of PPL, and a Board Member of English National Opera.
Lord Smith began his political career as a councillor in the London Borough of Islington before being elected MP for Islington South and Finsbury in 1983. He served in a number of Shadow Cabinet roles before becoming Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport from 1997 to 2001 and was appointed to the House of Lords in 2005.
He subsequently held senior leadership roles across the cultural and environmental sectors, including Chair of the Environment Agency, Chair of the Advertising Standards Authority, and Chair of the Art Fund. He has also served on the boards of a range of arts, cultural and regulatory organisations.
Remuneration and Governance Code
Trustees of the Wallace Collection are not remunerated. This appointment has been made in accordance with the Cabinet Office’s Governance Code on Public Appointments. The appointments process is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. Under the Code, any significant political activity undertaken by an appointee in the last five years must be declared. This is defined as including holding office, public speaking, making a recordable donation, or candidature for election.
Lord Chris Smith sat as a non-affiliated Peer between 2008 and 2024 before rejoining the Labour benches in the House of Lords in 2024.
Amelia Pan, Kate Cheetham, and Elizabeth Kennedy have declared no political activity.
