Update on dismantling the NHS National Programme for IT

NHS Chief Executive Sir David Nicholson has written to all NHS chief executives about the National Programme for IT and the latest steps to no longer run it as a centralised programme.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Department is undertaking a review, led by Katie Davis, Managing Director for Informatics, of the full portfolio of DH informatics applications and services to determine how this work will be taken forward. The review should conclude and report in the autumn. Alongside this, new governance arrangements to support local decision-making are being introduced and should be in place in the autumn.
