Great Britain was invited to be the guest of honour at the XXIV Minsk International Book Fair which will take place at the exhibition centre BelExpo on 8-12 February 2017.
The UK’s book fair programme will be held under the aegis of the GREAT Britain campaign in which UK Government aims to promote the UK internationally as a GREAT place to visit, study and do business. The programme will focus on three main aspects: English language and British literature, establishment of links between the UK and Belarus publishing business; and British educational opportunities.
As part of the Book Fair, the British Embassy in Minsk is organising meetings with British authors and publishers, round tables, talks with British alumni and representatives of UK universities. Belarusian authors will present their translations of well-known British books into Belarusian and will take part in a literary evening dedicated to translations of the works of famous British poets.
Guests of the fair will have a chance to hear about modern British literature, learning and studying the English language and scholarships to study in the United Kingdom.
The opening ceremony will be held at 12 am on 8 February in the BelExpo pavilion at Pobediteley avenue,14. Full details about the programme and events can be found at Embassy’s social network pages:
