UK invites Malaysia to bid for £2.5 million UK PACT climate change grant
A £2.5 million grant under the UK PACT Programme has been announced and a call for project proposals launched in Malaysia.
The British High Commission announced a £2.5 million (approximately RM13 million) grant under the UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) Programme and launched a call for project proposals in Malaysia. This is part of the UK Government’s International Climate Finance commitments to support partner countries in mitigating climate change.
Following a series of engagements with beneficiaries, experts and stakeholders to identify priority sectors in Malaysia, the High Commission now welcomes proposals for projects in three areas of focus: Green Finance, Energy and Climate Action Enabling Environment (CAEE).
In light of the Covid-19 pandemic and its socio-economic impact in Malaysia, we also welcome innovative projects that respond to this situation across the above themes and with respect to green recovery. The deadline for submission of proposals is 9 November 2020. More information is available on the UK PACT website.
Through the UK PACT programme, the UK aims to support countries like Malaysia to achieve their ambition for green, clean and resilient growth. The UK will respond directly to demand identified by partner governments by providing grants for projects with high transformational potential. Malaysia will stand to benefit from the UK’s decarbonisation experience and technical expertise in the climate change sector while building a more sustainable economy through the creation of green jobs.

This is part of the UK’s broader ambition to build momentum across the world to tackle the global challenges posed by climate change. This call for proposals for our UK PACT programme is an exciting opportunity to contribute to that collaboration. I look forward to supporting a set of projects, based on Malaysia’s priorities, that can catalyse a green, resilient and inclusive economy as we recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
UK PACT programme complements existing UK government programmes such as UK Prosperity Fund ASEAN Low Carbon Energy Programme, the 2050 Carbon Calculator for Malaysia, UK Prosperity Fund Global Future Cities Programme, and climate action projects under Newton-Ungku Omar Fund as well as the UK Science and Innovation Network.
