UK Development Minister welcomes IMF’s revival of Afghanistan’s credit programme

In response to the IMF’s announcement that it will revive Afghanistan’s credit programme, UK’s Secretary of State for International Development Andrew Mitchell said:

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

“This decision shows that the Afghan Government has made progress in reassuring international donors and ordinary Afghans alike that they are serious about providing a safe economic and business environment, and marks an important step forward on the path to transition to Afghan control.
“But the fight to tackle corruption does not end here. I urge the Government of Afghanistan to continue with this programme of reforms. The UK will continue to support the Government’s efforts and help to provide a brighter future for all Afghans.”
