UK condemns series of bombings in Iraq

Foreign Office Minister Hugh Robertson condemns the senseless bombing across Iraq yesterday.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Minister of State for North Africa and Middle Estate Hugh Robertson said:

The British Government strongly condemns the attacks that took place across Iraq yesterday, which resulted in the death of dozens of innocent Iraqis. My condolences go out to the families of those involved.

Like the vast majority of the Iraqi people, the United Kingdom is clear that violence and terrorism should play no part in Iraq’s future and we continue to support the Iraqi government in its efforts to uphold the rule of law and bring those responsible for these terrible crimes to justice.

Yesterday’s violence was clearly intended to fuel sectarian strife and destabilise the country. I urge all political, religious and community leaders to work together to combat terrorism and violence in all its forms.
