The work, which will involve surveying pavements, drainage and street lighting, will take place between Marks Tey and Marks Farm from Monday 7 to Friday 25 September.

During the work, the A120 will be closed in both directions weeknights only between 9pm and 6am.

Highways England project manager Michael Kilroy, said:

This work is necessary to allow us to keep track of the condition of the A120 and to help us plan future renewal work.

We have timed the work to be carried out when traffic levels are at their lowest and overnight but we are advising people to allow extra time for their journeys when the closures are in place.

During the closures traffic will be diverted via the A131, A130, A138 and A12.
