Suffragan Bishop of Tewkesbury: nomination of the Venerable Martyn Snow approved

The Queen has approved the nomination of the Venerable Martyn James Snow to the Suffragan See of Tewkesbury.

The Queen has approved the nomination of the Venerable Martyn James Snow, BSc, BTh, MA, Archdeacon of Sheffield and Rotherham in the diocese of Sheffield to the Suffragan See of Tewkesbury, in the Diocese of Gloucester, in succession to the Right Reverend John Stewart Went, MA, on his resignation on 16 April 2013.

The Venerable Martyn Snow (aged 45), studied at Sheffield University and then trained for the ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. He served his first curacy at Brinsworth with Catcliffe and Treeton in the diocese of Sheffield from 1995 to 1997.

He worked for the Church Mission Society in Guinea from 1998 to 2001. From 2001 to 2010 he was Vicar at Christ Church, Pitsmoor, Sheffield. From 2007 to 2010 he was also Area Dean of Ecclesfield. Since 2010 he has been Archdeacon of Sheffield and Rotherham.

The Venerable Martyn Snow is married to Dr Lynn Snow, a Paediatrician and they have 3 children (aged 11, 10 and 8). His interests include sport, music and hillwalking.
