The UK government in South Africa through Prosperity programmes conducted a search for the best South African Smart Cities startups. The two selected startups My Smart City led by Kennedy Mogotsi and ECO-V led by Andre Nel are joining a delegation of Smart Cities Startups to the UK.

The delegation will participate in a three-day immersive programme called TeXchange from 26 to 29 November designed to foster business partnerships and collaboration. These companies, through TeXchange in London will have access to the UK’s top companies, government agencies and municipal authorities through public events, meetups and presentations.

My Smart City is a mobile app that allows citizens and tourists to a city to access all services within the city. This includes municipal, private services (Man-in-a-Van), and emergency services (police, fire, and others.) Find out more on the My City App.

Eco-V provides renewable hot-water and electricity solutions for communities (homes, hospitals and schools) and industries in the form of affordable containerised hybrid solar Microgrids that are easily transportable. Find out more information on the Eco-V App.

For the broader community of Smart Cities startups joining us today, we encourage them to take the opportunity to build their networks – making connections today and through the ongoing efforts of the Prosperity programmes that grow their businesses and develop the South African entrepreneurship ecosystem and the outlook(s) for the respective cities uplift at large.

About Smart Cities in the UK:

Reports forecast the global smart cities market to surpass $2 Trillion by 2025 with smart energy making up a quarter of the overall forecast. The UK is home to strong global corporations in the chosen focus sectors: Energy, Transport & Telecoms, with each of these industries positioned at key junctions along the value chain to source, develop, integrate and implement smart city solutions on the ground. We expect TeXchange Smart Cities to generate tremendous interest in both the UK and the countries of TeXchange participants, resulting in a highly competitive selection process, quality participants, extensive media coverage, and impactful partnerships.
