According to Martiza Nanau, who voluntarily coordinates the association’s activities, students at Kulu school were fortunate to learn the basics on information and communication technology and digital skills over two days.

Funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Programme under its Alumni Community Engagement Fund (ACEF) the workshop involved raising awareness on how STEM fields can be used to solve everyday life problems.

ACEF is administered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK It supports Commonwealth Scholars and Alumni to raise awareness on key development issues in their respective countries.

The two-day workshop also helped the students to envision the various career paths in STEM and encourage them to become real world problem solvers to address issues with regards to roads, health issues, water supply and technological illiteracy as future Civil Engineers, Health practitioners, Computer scientists, Information specialists and so forth in the future.

The workshop also involved basic IT and digital skills training where students were taught how to operate various computer applications to write school assignments, curriculum vitae for job applications and digital skills essential for schoolwork.

Kulu School Principal, Mr Zacchaeus and his Deputy, Madam Doreen appreciated the team for having the heart to voluntarily spend time with the rural community students as they gain new knowledge from the workshop.

The workshop ended on Saturday 10th February 2024.
