The British High Commission is proud to announce Muse of Fire is this year’s UK selection for the European Union Film Festival (EUFF) in Ottawa and Vancouver.

Described as “an epic road-trip buddy movie, that aims to dispel the fear and myths surrounding the most famous playwright in history,” Muse of Fire follows friends Dan Poole and Giles Terera as they explore what makes people fall in love with William Shakespeare’s work.

Their four-year journey takes them from the Globe Theatre in London to Berlin, and ultimately Hollywood. Along the way they gain insight from acclaimed actors: Sir Ian McKellen, Dame Judi Dench, Ewan McGregor, and Jude Law.

Both on-screen and off the Ottawa edition of the festival will mark a number of milestones in 2015.

“This year’s EUFF is particularly exciting for us,” said Tom McSorely, Executive Director of the Canadian Film Institute (CFI). “Not only is it the 30th anniversary, but it is the first year that we have all 28 EU countries participating, and to top it all off, the first year it will take place at the ByTowne Cinema – all in CFI’s 80th year. We have a great selection of films from the best of European Cinema. We’re also thrilled to have three European guest filmmakers attending from Italy, Luxembourg and Austria. We’re so happy to see Europe represented in so many ways this year.”

Muse of Fire will screen in Ottawa on Sunday, 6 December at 4:15pm. All tickets and passes are available at the ByTowne Cinema box office located at 325 Rideau Street. Admission is $13 for the general public and $9 for CFI members and seniors. Discounted prices are also available to ByTowne Members.

In Vancouver, Muse of Fire will screen Monday, 7 December at 8:30pm at The Cinematheque at 1131 Howe Street. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.
