Reflecting on the success of the G8 Summit in Lough Erne, County Fermanagh, the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP said:

For the last few days Northern Ireland has been in the news for all the right reasons - for its natural beauty, its wonderful people and as an inspirational setting for the world’s leaders to reach important new agreements. ‬‪ ‬‪

The whole world has seen the tremendous progress that Northern Ireland has made since the political settlement was reached 15 years ago, and Northern Ireland has shown the world that it is open for business. ‬‪ ‬‪

It would be a terrible shame if that powerful message was lost as new images of riots or violence were beamed around the world over the next few weeks.‬‪ ‬‪I urge everyone involved to make sure this summer’s parades season is peaceful, so that Northern Ireland can really capitalise on the opportunities for investment and tourism created by the G8.
