Communities Secretary Eric Pickles congratulates all those from the local government, housing, fire, voluntary, and community sectors recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Eric Pickles said:

Many congratulations to the councillors, council staff, fire service, voluntary and community workers named in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List. They can be deservedly proud their achievements have been given national recognition. This is testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment of the individuals who so silently serve their communities day in day out.

Recipients of this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List include:

Council

  • Derek John Myers, lately Chief Executive, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham receives a Knighthood for services to Local Government in London
  • Councillor Paul Tilsley, lately Deputy Leader, Birmingham City Council receives a CBE for services to Local Government
  • Councillor Andrew Carter, Councillor Leeds City Council receives a CBE for services to Local Government
  • David James Robert Hill, Chief Executive, Milton Keynes Council receives a OBE for services to Local Government
  • Councillor Trudy Dean receives an MBE for services to community in West Malling
  • Councillor Howard Sykes receives an MBE for services to local government

Fire

  • John Barton, General Secretary, Retained Firefighters Union receives an OBE for services to Fire and Rescue
  • John Leonard Anthony, Regional Project Director, London Fire Brigade receives a MBE for services to the Fire and Rescue
  • John Cartwright, National Organisational Support Officer, Fire and Rescue Service and Chair Fire Services Youth Training Association receives a MBE for service to the Fire and Rescue Service
  • Paul Anthony Hodges, Critical Incident Debrief Officer, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service receives a MBE for services to the Fire and Rescue Service
  • Gary Norman Mattingley, Station Manager, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service receives a BEM for services to protecting communities from flooding
  • Paul Hancock Chief Fire Officer Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service receives the Queens Fire Service Medal
  • Jonathan Geoffrey Hall Chief Fire Officer Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service receives the Queens Fire Service Medal
  • Mark Jones Chief Fire Officer Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service receives the Queens Fire Service Medal

Housing

  • Edward Arthur Stevens, Chairman, National Self Build Association receives an OBE for services to Housing in England

Communities

  • Steven Christopher Iles, Head of Highways and Parking Services, London Borough of Croydon receives a MBE for services to the community and businesses during emergency flooding operations of 2014.
  • Shirley Elaine Fewings, Manager, Dawlish and East Teignbridge Volunteer Service receives a MBE for voluntary and charitable services
  • Sarah Rose Thorley receives a MBE for services to Interfaith Relations in South London
  • Sarah O’Driscoll receives an MBE for services to the community and Neighbourhood planning in Bristol
  • Mr Thomas Woof BEM for services to Community Planning in upper Eden
  • Joanne Susan Dalton BEM complex families worker in Manchester, BEM for services to children and families
