Jane, an expert adviser to Public Health England (PHE), leading on HIV, sexual and reproductive health, has been awarded a CBE. Jane was instrumental in establishing specialist clinical care for people with HIV at both St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Homerton Hospital in Hackney. For over 20 years, she has successfully worked with some of the most vulnerable and hard to reach patient populations in east London. Jane is also the immediate past chair of the British HIV Association.

Jennifer, the Regional Consultant in Dental Public Health for the North of England and the national lead in oral health improvement at PHE, has been awarded an OBE. She is also the President Elect for the British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry, and the Patron of the National Oral Health Promotion Group. She has recently been leading work on the second edition of the ‘Smokefree and smiling’ guidance and the third edition of ‘Delivering better oral health’ as well as developing a commissioning guide for local authorities: Commissioning better oral health for children and young people. These documents have been commended internationally and will improve oral health and reduce inequalities in England.

Duncan Selbie, Chief Executive of PHE said:

I would like to warmly congratulate both Jane and Jennifer for this recognition of their outstanding contribution to improving the public’s health.
