Prime Minister comments on new Prime Minister-elect of Japan

Prime Minister David Cameron has wished Prime Minister-elect Yoshihiko Noda success in dealing with the economic and reconstruction challenges faced by Japan.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Prime Minister said he looked forward to working together with Prime Minister-elect Noda to strengthen further UK-Japan relations.

He said:

“I wish Prime Minister-elect success in dealing with the economic and reconstruction challenges faced by Japan following the earthquake earlier this year.

“As my colleague the Foreign Secretary has recently said, Japan is unquestionably our closest partner in Asia and our two countries work closely together in the G7 and other international fora.

“I look forward to working together with Prime Minister-elect Noda to strengthen further UK-Japan relations across political, trade, economic and security agendas.”
