Scotland

When asked if the government had any contingency plans for a Yes vote in the Scottish referendum, the Prime Minister’s Official Spokesperson (PMOS) said the government has no contingency plans. When asked about the Prime Minister’s future visits to Scotland before the referendum, the PMOS said the Prime Minister was planning another visit.

PCCs

When asked about Home Affairs Select Committee chairman Keith Vaz’s comments regarding new powers to remove Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs), the PMOS said the government would listen to the views and ideas from members of the House of Commons on this and all other subjects. On the issue of PCCs’ accountability, the PMOS added that accountability through the ballot box remained a central pillar of people holding their elected representatives to account.
