NHS funded nursing care rates increased from 1 April 2014

The NHS contribution towards the costs of a place in a care home with nursing is being increased by 1% for financial year 2014 to 2015.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The funding for people assessed as requiring the help of a registered nurse is being increased by 1% for 2014 to 2015. From 1 April 2014, for eligible care home residents the rates will be as follows:

  • standard rate will be increased to £110.89 per week
  • higher rate will be increased to £152.61per week

The 1% increase is in line with general increases in NHS pay announced on 13 March 2014.

When NHS funded nursing care was introduced in October 2001, the Department of Health made a commitment to regularly reassess the payment attached to the bandings.
