NHS-funded nursing care rates increased for 2013

The NHS contribution towards the costs of a place in a care home with nursing is being increased by 1% for 2013 to 2014.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The funding is for people in a care home who have been assessed as needing the help of a registered nurse.

For eligible care home residents, from 1 April 2013:

  • the standard rate will be increased to £109.79 per week
  • the higher rate will be increased to £151.10 per week

These increases are in line with the increase in NHS nursing staff pay of 1% for 2013 to 2014.

When NHS-funded nursing care was introduced in October 2001, the Department of Health made a commitment to regularly assess the payments.
