Moscow A-List night to remember
Famous faces from across Russian society were among the guests for the British Embassy’s celebration of the Queen’s Birthday in Moscow.

Held at the Ambassador’s Residence, they were joined by actor Ralph Fiennes, who is here for his latest project working with Russian directors filming Turgenev’s ‘A Month in the Country’. There was loud applause as he spoke of his new venture and also marked Pushkin’s birthday with praise for the UK-Russia collaboration in the arts which will reach new heights in 2014 when the countries join together in a joint Year of Culture and Language.

More than 700 people turned out from political, cultural, academic, commercial and diplomatic circles for an event which showcased some of the best of the UK, from its food and drink (such as Ahmad Tea by SDC Foods, After 8 Chocolates by Nestle, Pimm’s and Baileys by Diageo, Walkers Shortbread biscuits by Relief, Selection of English Cheeses and Olives by Mechta Gurmana, English Beer and Cider by Brain’s Beer, Harrogate’s Water by SVAM), to iconic British lifestyle images (The Rug Company by Lege Alto, Wedgwood by Genlex), including Rolls Royce and MINI presented by Inchcape Holding; Aston Martin and Fairline and Sunseeker yacht brands presented by Burevestnik Group; Range Rover and Jaguar presented by Jaguar Land Rover Russia.
A British military band, stilt-walkers dressed in Union flag costume and a group of actors both surprised and amused the guests on a night to remember.
