They discussed a range of issues, including Tanzania’s constitutional review, commercial opportunities and consular issues.

Commenting after the meeting, the Minister for Africa said:

“We look forward to building on the warm relationship that exists between Zanzibar and the UK. I asked about how the Government of National Unity was working and the implications of Tanzania’s constitutional review. I expressed my concern to the First Vice President about the safety of passenger ferries between the mainland and Zanzibar. We also agreed that we must continue to work in partnership to promote the conditions necessary to increase investment and promote growth in Zanzibar. We discussed the role British companies could play in delivering this and assisting UK economic growth.”
