Minister calls for settlement decision to be rescinded

Minister Alistair Burt has commented on the announcement of further settlement tenders to the south of East Jerusalem.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Alistair Burt, Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, said:

“The recent announcement by the Israeli authorities to tender for the construction of 130 new housing units in the illegal settlement of Har Homa is extremely worrying.

“We have expressed deep concern following previous announcements of construction in Har Homa and I am very disappointed that the construction of this illegal settlement has continued. We condemn the systematic settlement construction that is undermining the possibility of a two state solution. I call for this decision to be rescinded.”
