Lord Browne publishes his first annual report

Lord Browne of Madingley has published his first annual report, detailing progress on the reform programme and operational efficiency.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Government Lead Non-Executive, Lord Browne of Madingley, has published his first annual report, setting out progress since his appointment in June 2010.

In response, Minister for the Cabinet Office Francis Maude said:

We are introducing a more business-like ethos into government and that’s why we brought word-class leaders from business and the voluntary sector to every Whitehall department.

Lord Browne’s frank report today shows how the 59 non-executive board members we recruited have applied their extensive experience to help departments deliver our ambitious reform programme and improve their operational efficiency.

Under our innovative approach, the best and brightest from outside government are challenging departments to implement policy decisions effectively and applying their commercial insight to ensure value for money for taxpayers.
