Local tobacco control indicators for England now updated

The web based tool assembles indicators at local and regional level, including trends over time.

The web based tool brings together a set of indicators at local and regional level, including trends over time where possible, that is useful for both commissioners and service providers. The indicators show:

  • the health problems caused by smoking
  • the extent of local smoking
  • how services across the NHS and local authorities are tackling smoking and its consequences

From April 2013, the tool is being updated quarterly with new data that has come available. This release is mainly a revision of existing indicators with updated population estimates from Census 2011. More recent data (2009 to 2011) has been published for deaths from lung cancer and COPD. In addition, data for oral cancer registrations is now available.
