2050 Pathway Calculator Workshop

A group of Thai officials attended a ‘Senior Government Officials Workshop’ on 29 October to learn about the development of a Thai version of the UK’s 2050 Pathways Calculator. The project received £ 100,000 of funding from the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and is expected to be completed by November when it will be launched to the public.

The Thai 2050 Calculator was developed by Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) and the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, Ministry of Energy (DEDE) since July 2013.

The UK’s 2050 Calculator is an interactive, user-friendly tool, showing information on energy output, demand and emissions. It allows non-experts to explore energy and emissions scenarios out to 2050.

The workshop was co-hosted by TGO, DEDE, DECC and the British Embassy. The Thai agencies present were the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Department of Forestry and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

The event was followed by a ‘Stakeholder Workshop on Thai 2050 Pathways Calculator’ for interested academics and private agencies to share information about the development of the Calculator. TGO collected feedback and plans to update the Thai version based on comments received at the workshop.
