The launch of the Human Rights and Democracy Report, which contains references to the Republic of Moldova, coincides with the 4th round of the EU-Moldova human rights dialogue taking place in Chisinau this week. The British Embassy in Chisinau is supportive of the Moldovan government’s work to improve the human rights situation in Moldova. Particular areas of importance are fighting discrimination, improving detention conditions and bringing an end to impunity.

References to human rights developments and work in Moldova are highlighted in the following sections:

  • Equality and Non-discrimination – page 64

  • Stabilisation capacity – page 86

  • EU Common Foreign and Security Policy – page 110

The report was launched by the Foreign Secretary on 15 April to an audience including Members of Parliament, NGOs, ambassadors to the UK, civil society and media.
