We are pleased to announce that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is now inviting proposals for project funding from the Human Rights and Democracy Programme Fund 2014/15.

The Human Rights and Democracy Programme (HRDP) is the FCO’s dedicated fund supporting human rights and democracy work overseas. The Programme aims to make a difference to people’s lives, helping to build the capacity of governments and civil society to promote and protect human rights. Project proposals should support one of the individual thematic priorities and issues / indicators (please see the Strategy for more details):

  • Global Torture Prevention
  • Abolition of the death penalty
  • Freedom of Expression
  • Freedom of Religion and Belief
  • Women’s Rights
  • Business & Human Rights
  • Democratic Processes
  • Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative

Projects should begin from June 2014 and must be completed by end February 2015.

The deadline for submitting project proposals to the British Embassy Astana is close of business Wednesday 5 March 2014. Proposals must be submitted electronically to ukinkz@fco.gov.uk indicating HRDP Bid in the subject field. Please see guidance for the strategy, conditions and concept form available here.
