Foreign Secretary welcomes Tunisia Ratifying the Rome Statute

Foreign Secretary William Hague has welcomed the Government of Tunisia's ratification of the Rome Statute.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Foreign Secretary William Hague said:

“I welcome the news that the Government of Tunisia has completed its ratification of the Rome Statute and become the 116th International Criminal Court State Party. This is a significant step forward for the international community’s efforts to combat impunity and ensure accountability for those alleged to have committed the most serious crimes of international concern. The ICC is already playing a key role in the region to provide justice to the victims of serious crimes in Libya - Tunisia’s decision to ratify at this time is a bold statement of its support for the Court’s work in the region”.
