Foreign Secretary's meeting with South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor, 6 May 2021

Dominic Raab met South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor after the G7 Foreign and Development Ministerial Meeting.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab met Naledi Pandor, South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation today following the G7 Foreign & Development Ministerial Meeting.

The Foreign Ministers discussed the shared challenges of COVID-19. They also discussed opportunities to increase global healthcare resilience, including approaches to enable further the shared objective of vaccine access for all.

The Foreign Ministers welcomed the launch of the UK-South Africa Investment Taskforce, which will strengthen further the, already significant, bilateral trade relationship.

They discussed climate change and aspirations for COP26, including the steps necessary to meet the ambitions set out in the Paris Agreement.

The Foreign Ministers agreed to maintain an intensified dialogue, including in support of preparations for the G7 Leaders’ Summit that President Ramaphosa would attend in June 2021.
