Foreign Secretary gives condolences for French train accident

The Foreign Secretary has expressed condolences for the loss of life and injuries caused by the train accident at Bretigny-sur-Orge near Paris.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Speaking about the train accident south of Paris today where seven people have been confirmed dead, the Foreign Secretary said:

I was shocked to hear about the serious train crash outside Paris. My thoughts are with the victims and their families. The British Embassy in Paris is in close touch with the French authorities and stands by to provide any assistance required.

The Foreign Office currently has no information at this stage that British nationals are amongst the casualties but we stand ready to provide any assistance that may be needed.
