Foreign Secretary gives biannual address to the Franco-British Council

The Foreign Secretary is this evening addressing the Franco-British Council at an event at the Foreign Office, where he will deliver a lecture on Franco-British relations in the 21st century.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The Chair of the Franco-British Council, the Right Honourable Baroness Quin, said:

‘We are delighted that the Foreign Secretary has accepted our invitation at a time when Franco-British co-operation is particularly close and purposeful, and we hope the occasion will be highly successful and productive.’

The Foreign Secretary said:

It is a great pleasure to address such a distinguished audience on a subject which matters not only to the British government, but also to me personally and millions of other Britons: the Franco-British relationship. At its heart is a commitment to fundamental values and universal human rights that we and our European and Western allies and partners share; and that people are demanding around the world in their millions.
