Foreign Office Minister welcomes hostage release in Colombia

Foreign Office Minister Jeremy Browne said that kidnapping cannot be justified under any circumstances.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Following the release of six Colombian hostages the Foreign Office Minister said:

“No-one could fail to be moved by the sight of the freed Colombian hostages meeting their families over the last week after long periods in captivity. Any hostage release is welcome.

But the release of these six men is wholly insufficient. Kidnapping cannot be justified under any circumstances.

The FARC should release all its hostages immediately and without any further conditions. They should also give up all violence, and end their involvement in crime and drugs.”
