Foreign Office Minister "greatly saddened" by loss of life and devastation in St Lucia
Minister for the Caribbean Jeremy Browne has spoken after Hurricane Tomas hit St Lucia.
“I was greatly saddened to hear of the loss of life and devastation caused by Hurricane Tomas in St Lucia. My thoughts are with those affected in St Lucia and other parts of the Caribbean.
The UK is already helping with the emergency relief effort and providing humanitarian assistance. HMS Manchester arrived in St Lucia yesterday and is working with the St Lucian authorities on the ground. Currently, she has two teams actively engaged in assisting the local population in Fond St Jacques and Colombette.”
