Foreign Office Minister condemns recent violence and discrimination against Gay Pride events

Foreign Office Minister Jeremy Browne has spoken following reports of violence and discrimination against participants and organisers of Gay Pride events.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

“I am concerned at reports surrounding recent Gay Pride and Diversity events, including of violence and discrimination against participants and organisers, and the cancellation of events by local authorities.

“The United Kingdom condemns all such violence and discrimination and I encourage governments to act to ensure that all people, including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender citizens, are free to live their lives in a safe and just environment. All individuals should enjoy the right to freedom of expression, freedom of association and peaceful assembly and we will always stand with those calling for an end to discrimination against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people.”
