Highways England is spending £137,000 to repair drainage and carry out footway repairs alongside the eastbound carriageway of the route around The Green. This project will start on Monday (27 July) and is due to be completed by Friday 4 September.

Some footway widening, together with an upgrade of the existing pedestrian crossing to a Toucan crossing that can also accommodate cyclists, will also be taking place.

Highways England project manager Peter Gee said:

This work will tackle the severe flooding along the carriageway and outside people’s houses – providing safer journeys for road users and a better environment for local people. As we are working in the footpath we are doing the work during the school holidays to minimise disruption to pedestrians.

Most of the work – which will involve some lane closures – will be done between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day with the use of temporary traffic signals. Some road marking will be done overnight.
