Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East, Alistair Burt, visited Bahrain on 11-12 March 2013 and took part in the inaugural meeting of the UK-Bahrain Joint Working Group to discuss a wide range of bilateral and regional issues. Discussions covered human rights and Bahrain’s reform programme, trade and investment and cooperation on security and counter-terrorism.
The Minister continues to follow the situation in Bahrain closely and remains supportive of the reforms already underway. Progress has been made in a number of areas, but there is still more to be done.
