FCO Minister condemns further terrorist violence in Iraq

Foreign Office Minister Hugh Robertson, condemns further terrorist violence in Iraq.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Commenting on yesterday’s bomb attacks in Iraq, Foreign Office Minister Hugh Robertson, said:

I utterly condemn the bombings that took place in Iraq yesterday, including a particularly appalling attack against mourners at a funeral in Diyala province. My condolences go to the families of the victims, and to those who have been injured.

Terrorism and extremism have no place in Iraq. The United Kingdom supports the Iraqi Government and the Iraqi people in their efforts to combat terrorism, and bring the perpetrators to justice. I continue to call on all political, religious and community leaders in Iraq to work together to combat the threat from terrorism through an inclusive political process in order to build a more stable and prosperous Iraq.
