FCO Minister condemns bomb attacks in Iraq

FCO Minister Alistair Burt has condemned today's attacks and called on the country’s leaders to work together towards stability and security for all Iraqi people.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Commenting on the bomb attacks in Baghdad, Hilla and Karbala which killed more than 30 people and wounded 80 others, Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East Alistair Burt said:

“I was deeply saddened to learn of today’s terrorist attacks in Iraq. I strongly condemn these attacks on innocent civilians and express my deepest sympathies to the families of the victims. I discussed the current situation in Iraq with the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister on his visit to London this week, and I urge the Iraqi government and all political blocs to work together towards stability and security for all Iraqi people.”
