Hugh Robertson condemns killing of Dr Sharafeddin and underlines need for violence not to undermine progress being made in Yemen.
Minister for the Middle East, Hugh Robertson said:
I condemn the assassination of Dr Ahmad Sharafeddin, a senior member of the Ansarallah delegation to the National Dialogue Conference, on the day that the National Dialogue completed its work. Dr Sharafeddin was working to support Yemen’s transition towards a more democratic future. I offer my condolences to Dr Sharafeddin’s family and colleagues and reassure Yemen of the UK’s support as it works to build a peaceful, secure and prosperous society.
