Turkmen students, representatives of the education and sports sectors, as well as residents and visitors in Ashgabat enjoyed GREAT posters from Great Britain. The Education and Sport exhibition, which was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s exhibition centre and lasted for two days from 13-14 November, provided a great opportunity for Turkmen youth to learn about state-of-art technology and methodology.

Amongst many other exhibitors from around the world, the British Embassy’s stand, which displayed posters on UK’s achievements in technology, innovation, education, knowledge and science, was a major highlight of this annual event. In addition to GREAT posters, detailed information about the FCO’s flagship Chevening scholarship programme was on offer for the public. English language teachers from schools and Universities also enjoyed recent copies of the British newspapers, such as the Times, the Sunday Times and several other magazines.

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Mr Agamyradov and Minister of Education Mr Geldiniyazov remarked that the British Embassy’s exhibition stand was nicely decorated and informative. Speaking to the British Ambassador, Vice Premier Mr Agamyradov said that UK Universities are one of the key destinations for Turkmen students studying under the Turkmen government’s scholarship programme and stressed that the highest ranked education institutions must be the priority. Thanks to the opportunity that this exhibition provided, we hope that many Turkmen students will choose the UK for quality education in the coming years.
