Crime news: extending the contract period of the 2010 Standard Crime Contract

Letters going out to all 2010 Standard Crime Contract holders offering an extension to the current contract period.

The Legal Aid Agency (LAA) is contacting all 2010 Standard Crime Contract holders to extend the current crime contract to meet the government’s commitment in its response to the Transforming Legal Aid: Crime Duty Contracts consultation.

We’re doing so to ensure continuous service coverage up to when services start under the new 2015 Crime Contracts on 1 October 2015.

All 2010 Standard Crime Contract holders are being offered the opportunity to continue working under current crime contracts from 1 July 2015 to 30 September 2015.

This offer to continue working from 1 July until 30 September must be accepted by 12 midday, 23 January 2015.

Letters explaining the terms of the offer to continue working from 1 July 2015 to 30 September 2015 are being sent to all 2010 Standard Crime Contract holders in the week beginning 15 December 2014. If you expect to receive a letter but do not do so you should email the LAA at: Crime.Contracts@legalaid.gsi.gov.uk.
