Communities Minister Andrew Stunell wishes Happy Vaisakhi to all British Sikh communities celebrating the start of the New Year.

Andrew Stunell said:

A New Year represents a new beginning, a time of great hope and optimism.

Vaisakhi - the holiest day of the Sikh calendar - holds messages we can all draw inspiration from, generosity of spirit, respect for others and tolerance of religious freedoms.

Streets up and down the country are coming alive in celebration and colour during annual parades and I want to wish Happy Vaisakhi to all British Sikh communities celebrating start of the New Year .
