Changes to how you sign in to the Find and update company information service
GOV.UK One Login will become the main sign-in option for the Find and update company information service.
The account you use to sign in to the Find and update company information service is called your Companies House account.
The sign-in screen will change in late August. GOV.UK One Login will become the main sign-in option.
If you already have an account, you can keep signing in with your existing details for now. This option will be further down the sign-in page. However, all new users will need a GOV.UK One Login to access Companies House services.
In the future, all users will need to move to GOV.UK One Login. We’ll give you plenty of notice before that happens.
This change is to the sign-in process only — you are not being asked to verify your identity.
What is GOV.UK One Login?
GOV.UK One Login lets you access a wide range of government services using a single email address and password. Signing in requires your email address, password, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) via an authenticator app or SMS. It also makes your Companies House account more secure.
We began moving our online services to GOV.UK One Login in autumn 2024.
Important note for users with shared accounts
Each GOV.UK One Login must be linked to one individual, using their own email address and phone number.
If your team shares a Companies House account, start planning how you will manage access when GOV.UK One Login is compulsory. To avoid disruption, each person who needs access should create their own Companies House account linked to their own GOV.UK One Login. Sharing an account after linking to GOV.UK One Login can trigger security controls that lock users out.
