Change of Her Majesty's Ambassador to Senegal and to Cape Verde

George Hodgson has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Senegal and Her Majesty’s Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Cabo Verde.

Mr George Hodgson has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Senegal and Her Majesty’s Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Cabo Verde in succession to Mr John Marshall, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Hodgson will take up his appointment during July 2015.

Mr Hodgson joined the FCO in 2002 and has held a number of positions in London and overseas. He is currently Head of the FCO’s Ebola Taskforce, working with governments in the region and international partners to eliminate Ebola in West Africa. He has previously worked on a range of European issues in London and Brussels, and on political and security issues in South Asia, from Kabul, Islamabad and Washington.

On his appointment, Mr Hodgson said:

I look forward to deepening our dialogue and cooperation with both countries to promote our mutual security and prosperity.
