Change of Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Angola

Mr John Dennis has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to Angola.

He will succeed Mr Richard Wildash who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Dennis will take up his appointment in February 2014.

Mr Dennis joined the FCO in 1981. Since then he has worked on African, Asian and commercial affairs, with a range of overseas postings. He has spent the last four years leading the department which deals with southern and central Africa.

Mr Dennis’ career has also included time spent on secondment to the private sector.

On his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Angola, Mr Dennis said:

I am delighted to be appointed British Ambassador to the Republic of Angola. At this important moment in our already excellent relationship, I look forward to helping to strengthen it further.

There is gowing scope for our two countries to work together, including in investment and trade and on a range of international issues of concern to us both. I relish the opportunity and the responsibility involved.
